Well hello there,

Fancy meeting you here.

Most people start by saying ‘I’m Gareth’ but I don’t want to start by saying ‘I’m Gareth’ so I’m just going to jump straight in and assume you now know I am Gareth.

I came to UX by a varied path, teaching in a primary school full time and working as a playwright in my non-spare time. For 15 years. Yes, 15 years. I am that old.

From the teaching I learnt how to simplify paths for people to take to get to their goals, helping learners of different abilities all end up in the same spot. I also learnt a lot about working with people and being part of a team driving to the same goals. It was a hard, fast paced and demanding environment, and I feel so much more confident because of it.

From writing I learnt creative collaboration, iteration and performing to the highest professional standards (hey I worked with the BBC and the Royal Shakespeare Company - brag).

I felt this background and these skills fitted perfectly with UX, so here I am, looking to move into UX as the full time job and still writing in my non-spare time.

For me UX represents the perfect mix of my problem solving and creative skills, as well as allowing me to utilise the people skills I developed whilst working in education.

I love a team environment as well as individual focused work, so am hoping to slot into an organisation and a group of people I can call home, then crack on with solving people’s problems in the most creative ways.

If I sound up your street drop me a line. And if I don’t, come on, give me a go. I’m a nice guy, I promise.
